Fairy tales

For our final week this half term we will be rounding off with a few other traditional tales and fairy tales that we have not been able to squeeze in this term. On Monday we will begin by reading Jack and the Beanstalk and we will be making large story maps from our favourite traditional tales.

In maths we will be halving whole objects using salad items at the snack table to share equally with a friend. You could have a go at halving different shaped items at home using play dough or real food.

We are having a dress up day to celebrate the end of our topic on Thursday, we look forward to welcoming knights, princesses, kings, queens and your other favourite traditional story characters.

We took advantage of the good weather this week and created our own art piece on the field, made a detailed story map of the things that should be in a traditional tales.  The sunny weather meant the children wanted to open their own ice-cream shop, very popular.  PE was finishing our topic of dance, with partner work.

RT had a fantastic time in the forest with Dorothy toasting marshmallows.  No rain to dampen the fire this time, lots of happy faces. They created images of mini beasts that they have found in the forest, can you name them?

Well done for all the fantastic traditional or fairy tale characters that came to school on the last day.  This finished off this topic with a flourish, if some very hot children!
